Tour Overview

Engage in a 5 Days Mgahinga Gorilla, Golden Monkey, and Bunyonyi safari in the southwest of Uganda which takes you to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You’ll go for gorilla trekking, where you trek the Nyakagezi group and trek golden monkeys in this park.  Mgahinga is the only park in Uganda where you’ll find golden monkeys. You’ll also visit the stunning Lake Bunyonyi and participate in boat riding/canoeing.

Tour Highlights

Detailed Itinerary of 5 days Mgahinga Gorilla, Monkey Trek

 Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Mgahinga National Park

Your driver will pick you up from your location and then, transfer you to Mgahinga National Park. He’ll brief you about all the activities that will take place during the five-day safari. Then, continue driving to Mgahinga National Park in southwestern Uganda with some stopovers. One of the stopovers will be at Mpambire Royal Drum Makers to witness how drums are made from skins and wood. You will then proceed to the Equator crossing, and later lunch in Mbarara town. Then be back on the road to drive straight to Mgahinga.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking In Mgahinga National Park

Head to the park in the morning after breakfast, with your packed meal. You’ll arrive in time for briefing then go trek mountain gorillas. On finding them in the forest, the rangers will allow you to spend 1 hour with the gorillas. Then, you will be taking pictures and monitoring the behavior of the gorillas during this hour. Later, return to the Lodge for your overnight.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking Experience

Have breakfast and transfer to Mgahinga National Park headquarters for briefing. The briefing will help you to learn how to conduct yourself in the presence of these primates. Then, you’ll head to the forest for your trekking activity. You will surely have a memorable experience when you see and interact with the primates. Thereafter, return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a Boat Ride

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi situated in Kabale district. The lake is the deepest in Uganda. This destination is one of the few regarded as the best place to relax after your gorilla trek. You will have a boat ride along the lake, have lunch, and maybe in the afternoon, go for a canoe ride to one of the many islands surrounding Lake Bunyonyi. Alternatively, you can do some or do some birding. Thereafter, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Drive to Entebbe International Airport

You will wake up early to have your very last delicious breakfast meal on this safari, having had a great gorilla and golden monkey experience. Then, you will have lunch along the way and transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight out of Uganda.
