This 6-day Rwanda gorilla trekking and Game Safari will allow you to trek Mountain Gorillas and Golden Monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Game Safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will meet your driver guide from Safari Vacations and Travel Services. You will then transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Depending on the time, you may visit Kigali Genocide Memorial as you head to Volcanoes National Park. The journey to the North goes through the beautiful hillsides with terraces. These thus display Rwanda’s landscape and the beautiful breathtaking land of a thousand hills.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters of Volcanoes National Park. There, the rangers will brief you about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. With your lunch in the boxes, you will then start the gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virunga. After finding the gorillas, you will have one hour to take photographs and monitor gorilla behavior. You may have an optional visit to the Iby’iwachu cultural village for cultural performance.

Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park and visit the Diana Fossey Tomb

After breakfast, you will have a golden monkey track. These golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. After lunch, you will transfer to Karisoke where Dian Fossey’s grave is. She was a woman who carried out Comprehensive research about Mountain Gorillas in Africa. That spot where she was buried, is also the same spot where she buried her friendly Gorilla, Digit. After the visit, you will transfer back to your hotel.

Day 4: Drive to Akagera National Park for an evening game drive and overnight.

After breakfast at your lodge, you will drive to the East of Rwanda to Akagera National Park. The park borders Tanzania which has beautiful undulating plains with dense, broad-leafed woodland. The park also has lighter acacia woodland, and rolling grassland with an extensive series of lakes linked by papyrus swamps forming a sprawling wetland.

Day 5: Game drives and boat trip on Lake Ihema.

You will have early morning game drives in the park. These game drives will involve seeing hippos, elephants, and buffalos. You’ll also see giraffes, hyenas, crocodiles, and many other animals plus bird life. After the late breakfast, you may decide to go for a nature walk. Alternatively, you can have a relaxed moment at the lodge while preparing for the canoe ride on Lake Ihema that afternoon. The afternoon boat cruise will allow you to see crocodiles, hippos, and many other animals on the lake shores as they cool off.

Day 6: Drive to Kigali for a city tour and transfer to the Airport for your departure flight out.

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali for drop-off at the Airport. Additionally, depending on your departure flight time you will have a local lunch. Then, proceed to the airport for your flight out to end the 6-day gorilla trekking and Game safari in Rwanda.
