Detailed Itinerary for the Gorilla, Golden Monkey & Chimps 6-day Rwanda Safari
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Firstly, You will meet your guide who will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali. You will then start with a short city tour where you will visit the genocide memorial site. Later in the afternoon, you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Then, you will have dinner and an overnight stay as you look forward to a gorilla experience the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Parc National Des Volcans
Early in the morning after breakfast and a briefing from the RDB officials, set off for the gorilla trekking. You’ll learn about the do’s and don’ts of gorilla trekking. This experience of gorilla trekking is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Thus, the rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search of the Gorillas.
You will move up and down the rough terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures. You will cherish their company for 1 hour taking photographs and monitoring them. The activity in Rwanda can take 3-5 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. In the afternoon you may go for an optional village tour for a cultural experience with a resident local guide.

Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking and Ibyi’wachu Cultural Tour.
You will have breakfast and report back to the park headquarters. You will get a ranger guide and start your golden monkey trek in Volcanoes National Park. This is a rather short experience that can last an hour or three hours. After spending time with the golden monkeys, you will go and have lunch. Then, after you’ll connect to the Ibyi’wachu cultural tour.

Day 4: Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Nyungwe National Park.
You will have an early morning breakfast and then embark on a 4-5 hours scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. It is one of the oldest rainforests in Africa and home to 13 species of primate. Have lunch en route. Then, arrive and Have enough rest as you prepare for a chimpanzee trekking experience the day after.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
Enjoy breakfast and go for briefing before entering the forest, searching for the active and playful fellows in Nyungwe forest. Meanwhile, the Chimpanzees are easy to spot, as they jump from one tree to another, chattering and laughing. Hence, Chimp tracking usually takes about 3 hours. You will then return to your accommodation for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on a walking trail that will take you to the Canopy Walk at Uwinka. It is a swing bridge 50 meters in length that is suspended from large trees. You will be able to see the amazing rainforest with a bird’s eye view, you’ll spot wildlife moving about below you. Before nightfall, you will return to the hotel for dinner as above

Day 6: Transfer to Kigali
Wake up to a good breakfast in the misty Nyungwe forest and embark on the drive to Kigali. You’ll pass by impressive tea plantations and arrive in Kigali in the afternoon. Drop off at your hotel/Kigali Airport depending on your program.
