Detailed Itinerary of 8 Days Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Diani Beach Safari

DAY 1: Arrival in Nairobi and Kigali City Tour

On arrival in Nairobi City at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, your guide from Safari Vacations and Travel Services will welcome you. He will then give you a short briefing about what to expect on the safari. Then, you’ll transfer to your hotel in Nairobi.

Depending on your arrival time, you will have a short city tour if you arrive earlier than 04:00 pm. During the city tour, you will visit several sites in the city including The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Orphanage, Giraffe Center, and Karen Blixen Museum.

If you arrive late in the evening, you will head straight to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 2: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

Have early breakfast, check out of your hotel, and transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve. This is the greatest wildlife destination in Kenya. Along the journey, you will have a stopover at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy the views of the escarpments and take scenic photos.

You will arrive at the reserve in time for lunch which you will have at your lodge after checking in. You will enjoy your meals and rest for a while. In the afternoon you will head out for an afternoon game drive in the endless plains of Masai Mara National Reserve. You will enjoy seeing many animals. These include lions, warthogs, giraffes, elands, antelopes, gazelles, leopards, and cheetahs among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY 3: Masai Mara Game Reserve full-day exploration

Wake up early, have a cup of coffee, and head to the reserve for an early morning game drive. Morning time is a perfect time to see abundant wildlife most especially predators. This is especially the time they return from hunting and other animals before going into hiding because of the sun.

You will have a high chance of spotting lions, elephants, cape buffaloes, cheetahs, and zebras among others.

You will return to your lodge for a late breakfast and rest for a while as you wait for lunch. Then, in the afternoon you will return to the reserve for another game-viewing expedition. Look out for sights of animals and birds. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: Transfer to Amboseli National Park

Have breakfast, check out of your lodge, and transfer to Amboseli National Park. This is a popular Kenya wildlife destination popular for hosting large herds of elephants. A magnificent backdrop of the snowcapped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro – the tallest mountain in Africa crowns it.

Along the way, you will have an en-route lunch in Nairobi and then proceed to Amboseli National Park. you’ll arrive in the late afternoon. When you arrive at the park, the scenic view of the Mountain Kilimanjaro will welcome you. You’ll have an en-route game drive as you head to your lodge. Check-in, have dinner, and stay overnight.

DAY 5: Amboseli National Park full-day exploration

Have early breakfast and transfer to Amboseli National Park with your packed lunch boxes. You’ll head there for a full-day game drive. On this day, you have ample time to explore Amboseli National Park. Also, you will have a picnic lunch set in one of the picnic sites in the park.

As you explore the park on game drive you will enjoy spotting the big game. this includes as lions, herds of elephants, warthogs, elands, and over 400 bird species. Bird species include such as grey-crowned cranes, black-bellied bustards, and goliath herons among others.

After watching the sunset, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: Transfer to Diani Beach

After enjoying breakfast, you will bid Amboseli National Park farewell and embark on a journey to Diani Beach. It is a drive of approximately 6 hours. You will arrive in time for lunch, check into your beach resort, and enjoy your delicious meal.

Day 7: Full-Day Diani Beach excursion

During your stay at Diani Beach, you can choose to take a walk along the white Indian Ocean. You’ll visit the Marine National Park for a diving excursion with the dolphins. Also, do kitesurfing, sail in a dhow, visit the local fishing villages, or relax at the resort reading a book or taking a swim in the swimming pool.

DAY 8: Nairobi and Departure

After a leisurely breakfast, you will transfer to Ukunda Airstrip to catch your flight to NAIROBI’s Wilson Airstrip. Upon arriving, you will transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for a flight back home.
