4 Days Semuliki National Park Safari is an exciting safari that will allow you to explore Semuliki National Park which is located in western Uganda at Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. During the safari in the park, you will be able to participate in interesting activities like chimpanzee trekking where you will spend time with the endangered chimpanzees in their natural habitat, game drive where you will have great wildlife views of elephants, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, warthogs, buffaloes, boat cruise on river Semuliki up to Lake Albert where you will be able to view hippos, Nile crocodiles, water birds and also visit Sempaya hot springs.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Semuliki National Park
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our driver guide. He will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Semuliki National Park. It is located in western Uganda. On the way, you will have a stopover at the Equator to take photos, and buy souvenirs. Then proceed the journey with en-route lunch in Fort Portal town. After lunch, you will continue the journey which will be filled with great views of the beautiful scenery, traditional homesteads, and Rwenzori mountain ranges, among others. Upon arrival in the park, you go for an evening game drive. Spot animals like buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, and warthogs, among others. After the game drive you will drive to check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
After an early breakfast, you will meet up with your driver guide to go for a morning game drive. You will be able to view animals when they are most active. The game drive will be done in a comfortable pop-up safari vehicle which helps you to have great views of animals like elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks, Uganda kobs, and duikers among others. If you are lucky you will be able to spot predators like leopards, and hyenas before they go back to their hiding areas. Also, view different bird species, and primates like baboons, red-tailed monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys among others. After the game drive you will drive back to the lodge for lunch.
Boat cruise
After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat cruise along river Semuliki up to Lake Albert. The boat ride takes about 2 hours ride and allows you to see animals like hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, view elephants, buffaloes, and warthogs along the water banks, view water birds like the rare shoebill stork, red billed dwarf hornbill, cormorants, kingfishers, fish eagles, bee-eaters among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking and hot spring tour
Chimpanzee trekking, after an early breakfast on the third day of the 4 days Semuliki National Park safari you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations, and expectations of chimpanzee trekking. After the briefing, you will have a park guide who is well conversant with chimpanzee trails. Then start trekking in the forest which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees are located.
During trekking
You will be able to spot different bird species, and other primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, and olive baboons. Once you find the chimpanzees spend one hour with them in their natural environment. Learn about their behaviors, and habits, and watch them carry out their daily activities like feeding, playing, breastfeeding, and grooming each other among others. After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the lodge for lunch.
Sempaya Hotsprings
After lunch, you will go to visit the Sempaya hot springs which is the most popular attraction in the park. The hot spring is into two male and female hot springs. This is the most interesting and boils at around 2 meters high. On the way to the hot springs, you will pass through the forest. You will be able to spot primates like grey cheeked mangabey, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, and black and white colobus monkeys. Go ahead to view birds like yellow-throated tinker birds, blue breasted kingfishers, honeyguide greenbul, and forest hornbills among others. The water has high temperatures which rise to 100 degrees Celsius. This water is used to boil eggs, and green bananas and prepare tea. After the hot springs tour, you will return to the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Departure to Kampala
On the last day, you will have a relaxed breakfast. Check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver-guide. Transfer to Kampala with en-route lunch in Mbarara town. After lunch, you will proceed to Kampala where your driver will drop you off at Entebbe Airport for your departure flight or dropped off at the hotel.
