Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali pickup and transfer to Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo
You will meet up from your location in Kigali Rwanda by our safari guide who will brief you about this 3 days adventure as you embark on a 7-8 hours drive to Bukavu. The journey is long but so rewarding with lots of encounters and attractions that are worth it including a visit to some genocide Sites, a stunning view of coffee plantations, and a view of Lake Kivu. You will have en route lunch along the way in Rwanda and then proceed to Bukavu via the Cyangugu border where you will then check in at your reserved hotel in Bukavu City the nearest city to Kahuzi Beiga National Park. Check in your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2: Eastern Lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Beiga National Park
Have an early breakfast then back a lunch box, and enough drinking water, wear appropriate gorilla trekking gear which includes waterproof hiking shoes, long-sleeved attire, garden gloves, a cap, sun glasses, and pack insect repellant Finally meet your safari driver to embark on a 45minutes drive transfer to the park headquarters of Kahuzi Beiga national park to meet other trekkers for a pre gorilla trekking briefing where you will get to know more about East lowland gorillas, the dos and don’ts and much more important information you require during the trek.
After briefing, hire a porter and be led into the forest to search for the habituated eastern lowland gorillas in the valley of Kahuzi Beiga National Park. The entire trek will depend on the movement of gorillas though it’s always between 2-7 hours and upon finding gorillas, you will spend only one hour which is the maximum time to stay with the gorillas in their natural habitats. You will take as many photographs as possible as well as learn different manners of these Eastern lowland gorillas including feeding habits, grooming, copulating and sometimes watch them fighting amongst themselves. Once an hour is done, exit and return to the park headquarters where you will once again meet with your safari driver for a drive back to your lodge for a relaxed evening, dinner, and overnight.
Note: Always remember all the rules and regulations of Gorilla trekking to avoid messing up and putting your life and that of other trekkers at risk such as keeping a social distance of 7M apart between you and the gorillas, ensuring that your camera flashlight and shutter sound are off, avoid making unnecessary noise and movements and many more as will be told during the briefing.

Day 3: Return to Kigali for city tour and departures
Drive back to Kigali for a city tour and departures: On day 3 of 3 days of Congo Eastern lowland gorilla trekking safari and depending on your flight time, you will enjoy a relaxed breakfast then check out of the lodge and start the journey from Bukavu back to Kigali Rwanda with an en route lunch. Upon arriving in Kigali, you will enjoy a city tour as long as you have an evening or night flight. After enjoying the city tour, you will then drive to Kigali International Airport to catch a flight back home or to the next destination.
