Detailed Itinerary of the 3-Day Rwanda Express Gorilla Safari
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes NP
On the first day of the 3-day Express Rwanda Gorilla Safari, you will meet your Safari Vacations guide. Your driver will pick you up from the airport to Volcanoes National Park. Depending on your arrival time, your driver may propose that you take a tour of Kigali city, including the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi. After reflecting on the genocide, you will continue with your journey. You will subsequently take a 2-hour transfer to Kinigi, located at the foothills of the Volcanoes.
Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge/Muhabura Hotel
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & transfer to Kigali.
After breakfast, you will depart for the headquarters of the Park, where your guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you. You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest experience ever. You will get a briefing about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The rangers will lead you to where the gorillas are. While on the trek, look out for a variety of bird species in the forest. You will also see many animals like baboons, and rarely some golden monkeys. After finding the gorillas, you will spend one hour with them while taking pictures. You will be able to monitor their behavior in your presence.
After the trek, visit the Iby’Iwacu traditional village (a community-based tourism project where the local community displays the traditional ways of living). You will enjoy seeing the locals dance, which depicts their customs and way of life.
Lunch at Musanze (Ruhengeri) and transfer to Kigali. On your way to Kigali, several stops will be made to admire the scenery. Rwanda is the country of the thousand hills!
Overnight at Flame Tree Village Hotel.
Day 3: Kigali visit and Departure
Your driver will pick you up at your hotel, depending on your departure time. If you missed the opportunity on the first day, you will have your Kigali city trip, including the Genocide Memorial Centre at Gisozi, and visit the local markets and art centers. Transfer to the Airport for your departure
