3 Day Uganda Gorilla Habituation Safari – Safari Vacations & Travel Services

Day 01

Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Rushaga Sector)

Your driver-guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali after breakfast. After a short safari briefing, begin the scenic drive across the Rwanda–Uganda border through either the Katuna or Cyanika border post. The journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, passing through Rwanda's rolling hills before entering southwestern Uganda. Along the way, enjoy beautiful countryside views, local villages, terraced farms, and volcanic landscapes. After completing immigration formalities, continue to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the only sector where the Gorilla Habituation Experience takes place. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch or an early dinner, depending on your arrival time. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the next day's adventure.

Day 02

Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast before heading to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for registration and a briefing from park rangers. Unlike the standard gorilla trek, the Gorilla Habituation Experience allows you to spend up to four hours with a semi-habituated mountain gorilla family alongside researchers, trackers, and experienced guides. The trek can last anywhere from 2 to 7 hours depending on the gorillas' location. During the experience, you will witness researchers recording gorilla behavior while learning about conservation efforts, family dynamics, feeding habits, communication, and habitat use. This is one of Africa's most exclusive wildlife experiences, with only four permits issued each day, making it ideal for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts seeking extended observation time. After returning from the forest, receive your Gorilla Habituation Certificate before heading back to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 03

Return to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, check out and begin the return journey to Kigali. Enjoy another scenic drive through the beautiful landscapes of southwestern Uganda and northern Rwanda. Depending on your departure schedule, you may stop at local craft markets or enjoy a brief Kigali city tour, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial (time permitting). Your guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or drop you off at your preferred hotel in Kigali.
