Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Depending on the time of arrival at Kigali International Airport on the first day of the 4 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking tour, you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours drive and will be filled with spectacular views of the rolling hills, beautiful landscapes, and traditional homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
On the second day of the 4-day Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking tour, after breakfast, you’ll meet your driver guide for a briefing at the park headquarters. With an experienced park ranger, you’ll trek to find a habituated gorilla family, adjusting for age, fitness, and preferences. Trek duration varies (30 minutes to 6 hours) based on gorilla location. Along the way, spot other primates, birds, and plant species. Spend an hour observing gorillas’ behavior, then trek back to headquarters for a certificate. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and Twin Lakes tour
Golden monkey trekking, after an early breakfast on the second day of the 4 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking tour your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules, regulations and expectations of golden monkey trekking. After the briefing, you will be allocated a golden monkey family to trek and a park guide who will is well conversant with trails in the forest.
Golden monkey trekking takes about 30 minutes to 3 hours and during trekking, you will follow trails of leftover leaves and bamboo shoots. Once the golden monkeys are found you will be allowed to spend one hour with them in their natural environment which allows you to learn about their behaviors, watch them jump up in tree branches, take photos, and record videos which give you lifetime experiences. After the one-hour encounter with the golden monkeys, you will trek back to the park headquarters where meet your driver guide and transfer to the lodge for lunch.
Twin Lakes tour, after lunch you will drive to the twin lakes of Lake Burera and Ruhondo which are located at the base of Mount Sabyinyo, Muhabura, Bisoke, and Gahinga. Upon arrival, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of hills, terraced farmlands, beautiful landscapes, views of the fishermen who will be fishing, views of the sundowner, and water birds among others. You will also be able to relax your mind, breathe fresh air, and take incredible pictures among others. After the twin lakes visit you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Departure to Kigali for a city tour
On the final day of the 4-day Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking tour, check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for a transfer to Kigali. Enjoy a city tour, including the Kigali genocide memorial center, craft markets, and museum. Have lunch at a restaurant before heading to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or to your hotel in Kigali, depending on your schedule.
