3Day Explore Akagera Park, On this 3 days classic African safari, we explore the wildlife of Akagera National Park combined with the culture and people of the land of 1000 hills. On this safari, you expect a typical African bush camp experience and overnight in the middle of the wildness as you enjoy the sounds of African night from Karenga bush camp and the sunset cruise on Lake Ihema as you watch the sun go down and wildlife that call the lake home or those that have come to drink one last time before the day is closed.

Day 1: Sunset boat trip on Lake Ihema
Pick up and embark on a journey to Akagera National Park about 110 km (3-hour drive) east of Kigali’s capital city. You will stop along the way at Imigongo Art café for refreshments. Proceed via the southern entrance gate to the lodge overlooking the swamp-fringed Lake Ihema, the park’s largest lake. The hippos tend to graze around the tents and the sounds of nature provide a perfect setting for wild nights.

Day 2: Full-day game drive with packed lunch
The game drive experience in Akagera involves a lot of driving from the south to the northern open plains of Killala. There it is less bushy and you may spot more wildlife and also get out of the car and have a picnic in the wild. Seeing all the Big 5 can be challenging due to low numbers, however, the zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, and antelope species like Impala, and Topi are abundant. The bird life in the park is also another highlight of your safari. We have this full day dedicated to game viewing and we will sleep in the north park. Dinner and overnight in the park.
