Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is located in southwestern Uganda at the edge of the western rift valley. It is home to 120 mammals, 360 species of birds of which 23 are Albertine lift endemics including the African green broadbill, yellow-eyed Black fly-catcher, Dustycrimsonwing, short-tailed warbler, Kivu ground thrush, Bar-tailed Trogon rusty-faced woodland warbler among others. The park covers an area of 331square km. The highest point in the park stands at an altitude of 2607metres while the lowest point is at 1160metres. Gorilla tracking is the highlight of all the activities done in the Bwindi forest national park. Other activities include; bird watching, Nature walks, cultural interactions with the local people to mention but a few.
Our driver-guide will you from your hotel at lake Bunyonyi, Kabale town, or from your hotel in Kisoro town at 6 am in the morning. Kindly note that gorilla tracking starts at 8 am in the morning. so, keep time so that you won’t miss the briefing that starts at 8 am. You will be joined by other tourists from different tour companies and lodges from different areas near the park for a general briefing. At the briefing, you will be briefed by the park guide about the dos and don’ts and then after you head to the forest. Gorilla tracking may be quite strenuous so some levels of fitness may be required because the trek can take 30 minutes to three quatres of the day. If you are not strong enough to go for a long trek ask your guide to request for you a short or medium trek from the park guide at the briefing point. Also, remember that short treks may not be guaranteed as gorillas keep moving to look for food. After the trek, you will walk back to the starting point where your driver will be waiting for you and head back to Kabale or lake Bunyonyi or Kisoro.
