The Gorilla Trek and Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund Tour starts early at 6:00 AM. Participants will meet at the park headquarters, where they will receive an important briefing about the trekking experience. The briefing covers safety guidelines, what to expect during the trek, and the conservation efforts of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. This informative session ensures the preparation of trekkers for their journey into the jungle. After the briefing, the group will begin their trek at 8:00 AM, setting off from the trailhead to explore the gorilla’s natural habitat. It’s an incredible opportunity to witness these majestic creatures while learning about the critical conservation work being done to protect them in the wild.
Gorilla Trekking:
At 8:00 AM, the trek begins. Trekkers head from the trailhead into the jungle. The adventure offers a chance to explore the natural habitat of endangered mountain gorillas. Visitors can observe the gorillas in the wild.
The journey also highlights the conservation efforts of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. As the day progresses, trekkers will experience the forest’s beauty, encounter wildlife, and learn the importance of protecting these animals for future generations.
Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park allows visitors to discover the 10 gorilla families living there. Before the trek, enjoy a cup of coffee. Groups of 8 are formed based on physical ability. Each group is led by a guide and two trained scouts. Trek durations vary, depending on where the gorillas are located. Some treks may last just 30 minutes, while others can take most of the day.
