What Your Safari Encompasses
We design this comprehensive tour to showcase Uganda’s most spectacular national parks. Your journey takes you through Murchison Falls National Park, where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow gorge. You continue to Kibale National Park, home to our closest primate relatives. Queen Elizabeth National Park offers diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park provides the highlight of your trip—mountain gorilla encounters. We conclude your adventure with a peaceful night at Lake Bunyonyi before returning you to Kampala or Entebbe.
Throughout your safari, we combine multiple wildlife experiences. You track chimpanzees in Kibale’s dense forests and search for mountain gorillas in Bwindi’s misty highlands. We arrange game drives in both Murchison Falls and Queen Elizabeth National Parks, where you spot elephants, lions, buffalo, and numerous antelope species. Boat safaris reveal hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. You paddle across Lake Bunyonyi’s tranquil waters and engage with local communities surrounding the park.
Your Day-by-Day Adventure
Day 1: Journey to Murchison Falls
Your safari begins when we collect you from your Entebbe or Kampala hotel. We drive north to Murchison Falls National Park, breaking the journey at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Here, you track white rhinos on foot with experienced rangers, completing Uganda’s “Big Five” experience. After lunch, we proceed to Murchison Falls, stopping at the top of the falls where you witness the Nile’s thunderous plunge. We then transfer you to your lodge for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 2: Murchison Falls Exploration
Dawn breaks as we embark on your morning game drive through the northern sector. You search for lions, leopards, elephants, giraffes, and various antelope species. After lunch, we take you on a boat cruise to the base of Murchison Falls, where you observe hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. The boat stops near the falls’ base, offering spectacular photography opportunities. We conclude with a short evening game drive before returning to your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest
We depart Murchison Falls after breakfast, driving south through Uganda’s countryside. You enjoy scenic views of tea plantations, rural villages, and the Rwenzori Mountains in the distance. We stop for lunch in Kagadi or Fort Portal, the tourism city nestled below the mountains. By evening, we arrive at your Kibale accommodation.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Swamp
Early morning finds you entering Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. Rangers lead you through the forest as you listen for the chimps’ distinctive calls. Once located, you spend one hour observing these intelligent primates as they feed, play, and interact. After lunch, we guide you through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, where you spot rare bird species, butterflies, and possibly more primates.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
We drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time for an evening game drive. You explore the park’s northern sector, watching wildlife emerge for evening activities. The park’s varied habitats support over 95 mammal species, and we position you for optimal viewing opportunities.
Day 6: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel
Your morning game drive focuses on predator tracking, searching for lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas. After lunch, we embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This waterway attracts massive concentrations of wildlife—you observe elephants drinking, buffaloes bathing, and hundreds of hippos wallowing.
Day 7: Ishasha Sector and Bwindi
We journey toward Bwindi, routing through the Ishasha sector. This area became famous for its tree-climbing lions, which rest in fig trees during hot afternoons. We search for these unique cats before continuing to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, arriving at your lodge by evening.
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking and Lake Bunyonyi
Today delivers your safari’s pinnacle experience. After an early breakfast and briefing, you trek into Bwindi’s dense forest searching for mountain gorillas. The trek duration varies depending on the gorilla location, typically lasting 2-6 hours. Once found, you spend one magical hour observing these gentle giants. After this emotional encounter, we drive to Lake Bunyonyi, where you relax on Africa’s second-deepest lake. You paddle a canoe, swim in bilharzia-free waters, or simply unwind while absorbing the scenery.
Day 9: Return to Kampala/Entebbe
We begin your return journey after an early breakfast. The drive takes you through southwestern Uganda’s terraced hills. We stop at the Equator monument for lunch, photographs, and the famous water experiment demonstrating hemispheric differences. From here, we continue to Kampala or Entebbe, dropping you at your hotel or directly at the airport for your departure flight.
