Explore Rwanda’s big five games on this 3 Days Akagera National Park Tour. Akagera National Park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 species of birds, dominated scenically by the labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River; the most remote source of the Nile, this is archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland. This is where herds of elephants and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while lucky visitors might stumble across a leopard, a spotted hyena, or even a stray lion. You will also see lots of Hippos, Zebras, Impalas, warthogs, buffalo, and Giraffes among others.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali Airport and transfer to Akagera
Meet our tour guide from Safar Vacations and Travel Services at Kigali airport holding a placard reading your name. He will welcome you and brief you about the safari. Enjoy a 2-hour drive to Akagera National Park in Eastern Rwanda, and check in at the booked lodge.
Lodging: Ruziza Tented Camp/Akagera Game Safari Lodge

Day 2: Game drive and Boat trip
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and start your game drives in an open-roofed vehicle. A half-day game drive here offers you an opportunity to spot a variety of game including elephants, buffalos, hippos, lions, Masai giraffes, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush babies, leopard, and bushbuck, etc.
Proceed for a boat trip after lunch on Lake Ihema, for a close encounter with the Crocodiles and Hippos along the river banks, coupled with a large concentration of over 525 bird species both migratory and savanna-related. Unique species such as shoe-billed stocks and papyrus gonolek can be encountered. Endemics include the jacanas, ibis, sandpipers, and herons. Return to your lodge for dinner.

Day 3: Departure
After breakfast meet up with your driver. Transfer to the Nyamata Genocide memorial site and later return to Kigali International Airport for your flight back home.
