Your 3 Days Akagera National Park Wildlife Safari takes you to Akagera National Park located in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania and will give you a great experience to explore this only savanna national park where a safari game drive can only be carried in Rwanda. Akagera National Park is famous for harboring the big 5 with the recent introduction of the lions.
Akagera National Park is the only Savannah Park in Rwanda and is home to several mammal species including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, and most recently Black Rhinos with their introduction from South Africa, making Akagera national park officially a big 5 park like it was many years ago.
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera National Park from Kigali. Travel time +2hrs
Today, after your relaxed morning breakfast at your hotel, our safari guide/driver will pick you up and leave for Akagera National Park, the journey to Akagera National Park takes about 2.5 hours depending on the stopovers along the way, with the beautiful unwinding landscape en route to the park, feel free to ask the guide for stopovers to capture some photos. On arrival at the park, we shall proceed to our accommodation after a short game drive and check in for lunch.
We order lunch and later head for a boat trip on Lake Ihema to watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores and meet the buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an evening stay. Accommodation options: Ruzizi Tented Camp (luxury lodge) or Akagera Game Safari Lodge (Mid–range lodge).
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
After an early morning breakfast at 6:00 am leave for an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park to catch up with late hunters and early risers. We will be searching for big mammals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, several Antelope species, and recently the re-introduced Lions and Rhinos. The park is a varied habitat for wildlife and several bird species with over 500 bird species in the park making it a birding paradise. You will later return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, we head for a boat trip on Lake Ihema watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores, and meet the buffaloes and elephants wallowing by the water banks. Later return to the lodge for dinner and an evening stay. Accommodation options:

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali
You will leave the lodge after a relaxed breakfast, head for a brief game drive before we drive back to Kigali, and later we will transfer you to the lodge or airport to catch up with your afternoon flight.
