The month of April in Uganda is largely characterized by heavy rains making it the wettest month in the year, with rains, most times come in the midmorning hours, and generally, April features beautiful green landscapes, short gorilla treks, endearing newborns.
Since this month of April is hugely characterized by heavy rains, it is kinda tricky for some safari activities to be carried out, for example, game drives, trekking, as roads and other trails are impassable. Gorilla trekking is one of the top activities done this month as many travelers are seen booking for this activity. It’s done all year round as most travelers like the dry season due to okay trails in the thick forests in mountains and is easy to carry out I Bwindi and Mgahinga forests.
In this period, forests are waterlogged and gorillas are not fans of water as actually, studies indicate that it’s not common finding gorillas crossing rivers or water bodies. Since this month of April is largely full of rains and little rains, it’s a bit of advice is, one should go with jackets, raincoats, wear waterproof boots and other protective gears.
Another tip is to use 4×4 vans for safari drives but again recommendable to use superior Toyota Land cruisers 4×4 in this period as they have the energy to move in bad-conditioned roads.
