What is the number of gorilla permits available for visitors each day?

Uganda Wildlife Authority allocates a certain number of gorilla tracking permits depending on the number of habituated gorilla families in each sector and thus at Nkuringo 24 gorilla permits are accessible daily implying that a total of 24 people can trek mountain gorillas daily in a group of 8 people per day.

How to book a gorilla trekking permit for Nkuringo?

If you wish to acquire Nkuringo gorilla trekking permits, you can contact us to verify the availability of permits on your desired dates. Once we confirm that the gorilla permits are obtainable for your chosen travel dates, we will provide you with the Company’s bank account details for processing your payment. Additionally, you will need to provide your bio-data for inclusion on the gorilla permit to ensure its validity and proof of ownership for the booked tracking date.

If you opt not to book the entire safari with the company, we can still assist in obtaining the permit. To expedite the process, a small commission will be required. After you complete the payment, we will secure the permits from the Uganda Wildlife Authority after inquiring about your passport details (name, country, and passport number). How to access the NKuringo sector?

Getting to Nkuringo by road is approximately 550 km away from Kampala- the capital city of Uganda which takes about 8-9 hours and takes you to an adventure via the equator and the rolling hills of Kigezi. However, you can also opt to use air transport whereby you can book daily scheduled flights which take about an hour and a half to Kisoro airstrip next to Bwindi’s impenetrable national park. On arrival at the airstrip, the assigned driver picks the guests up and then transfers them to the beautiful Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge.
