Accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park

Accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park

There’s no shortage of great accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park. From luxury lodges on the banks of the Albert Nile to eco-lodges deep in the Budongo Forest, our favorites are those that combine the best views, wildlife, and activities to capture the best of the Albert Nile’s magic.

Luxury Accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park

    Bakers lodge

Baker’s Lodge, located on the Nile’s south bank, offers luxury yet traditional African accommodation as well as direct river access. The lodge, named after the English explorer Samuel Baker, offers high-quality food, drink, lodging, and facilities. It opened in 2015 and its rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, combining canvas and thatch.

    Bakers lodge

The lodge is built on a raised platform and offers stunning views of the Nile. Along the Nile’s edge, you can expect to see a diverse array of animal and bird life. Hippos and elephants are frequent VIP guests on the lodge’s grounds.

    Paraa Safari Lodge

The Paraa Safari Lodge is located on the north bank of the Nile. Each of the hotel’s 54 rooms has an en suite bathroom, a large window, and a private balcony with views of the Nile. Guests receive free parking, Wi-Fi, and breakfast in the restaurant. The lodge was rebuilt in 1997 from the shell of the original 1959 lodge. Its décor is inspired by a bygone era of Nile exploration. Its tranquil outdoor pool was featured in the 1951 film ‘The African Queen,’ starring Katharine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart.

    Paraa Safari Lodge

The lodge is ideal for families or first-time tourists to Africa who want to go on safari in comfort and style.

    Nile Safari Lodge

Nile Safari Lodge is an eco-friendly, family-owned lodge on the Nile’s southern bank. The lodge’s furniture and fixtures are designed to blend with both inside and outside. It opened in 2017 with the dream of offering a new experience in the Pearl of Africa. The accommodation blends in with its breathtaking natural surroundings. Natural materials and expert local craftsmen were used to construct the lodge. Water is drawn from the Nile and filtered to drinkable standards using a UV filtration system. Private fridges are solar-powered, making the lodge ideal for environmentally conscious travelers. The accommodations are divided into six Deluxe Bandas, one Exclusive Banda, and one Family Villa. Its Exclusive Banda is ideal for couples, while its Family Villa is ideal for larger groups.

    Nile Safari Lodge

The lodge provides privacy without isolating itself from its stunning surroundings.

    Chobe Safari Lodge

Chobe Safari Lodge, located on the north bank of the Nile, is designed to provide a spectacular view of the magical river. The lodge provides a variety of accommodations, including 36 enchanting guest rooms, 21 deluxe tents, 4 suites, and a Presidential Chalet. The Presidential Cottage exudes luxury. A private butler is available 24 hours a day, and the cottage’s balcony and patios overlook the exclusive lagoon, where guests can observe the local wildlife. Chobe’s outdoor pool is divided into three levels, allowing guests to enjoy the scenery from various vantage points. The Karama restaurant serves a delectable menu of local and international cuisines, and its terrace offers an unforgettable outdoor dining experience.

    Chobe Safari Lodge

The Karuma Bar’s décor is a mix of modern and safari themes. The Chobe Health Club and Spa is the ideal place to unwind after a day of exploring Murchison Falls.

Mid-range accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park

    Twiga Safari Lodge

A one-of-a-kind option for travelers looking to experience a different type of lodging, Twiga Safari Lodge is a modern take on a tented camp that combines canvas with solid construction. Twiga’s lodgings are a mix of safari camping tents and thatched African cottages. Its eight private cottages are located on the Nile’s bank in Mubaako Paraa right outside the Murchison Falls National Park.

    Twiga Safari Lodge

Twiga is a five-minute drive from the Murchison ferry terminal. The lodge has a fantastic view of Murchison’s treasures. Monkeys, birds, and even grazing hippos can be seen on the lodge’s grounds. The lodge has its own restaurant, bar, and gift shop, as well as free high-speed Wi-Fi and parking.

    Pakuba Safari Lodge

Pakuba Safari Lodge is our top mid-range pick. The three-star suburban lodge is located on the Albert Nile’s east bank. The lodge is a new manifestation of the former state lodge owned by Idi Amin, the ruins of which may still be seen. Pakuba lies close to the Tangi Gate of the Murchison Falls National Park. After a busy day at the Park, you may cool off in the lodge’s outdoor pool or drink your favorite beverage at the well-stocked bar. You may want to sit at your window and enjoy the gorgeous views of the forest. Guests who are lucky enough may witness gorgeous animals such as a leopard or maybe a giraffe.

    Pakuba Safari Lodge

The Albert Nile is visible from every room, and the river provides a cool evening wind. The lodge provides excellent value for money, with 32 Double/Twin rooms and 4 Family rooms that are all spacious and well-appointed. However, the lodge lacks the flair and individual style that can distinguish a property. Luxury lodges are ideal for those looking for a more intimate experience.

    Budongo Eco Lodge

Budongo Eco Lodge offers accommodation along the main route that connects Masindi and Paraa. The Budongo Ecolodge is our favorite of these resorts. While these facilities do not offer Nile frontage, they do have excellent access to the Budongo forests, which are home to a diverse range of wildlife and over 600 chimps. The most popular site to stay is the Budongo Ecolodge, which is located 8 kilometers north of the Kichumbanyobo Gate.

Originally the Jane Goodall Institute’s research station, it has been restored to give a pleasant and comfortable base for forest exploration. Chimpanzee trekking and forest walks are among the activities available at the lodge. The resort has a cozy atmosphere. For larger groups, Budongo has five spacious cabins and four huge dormitory rooms. Its on-site visitor center is quite educational about the surrounding area and displays old fossils.

    Budongo Eco Lodge

The artisan shop inside the resort sells handcrafted souvenirs to commemorate your visit.

    Murchison River Lodge

Murchison River Lodge, set on 30 acres on the Nile’s southern bank, is a family-run lodge with panoramic views of Murchison Falls National Park. Chris and Georgie, a couple who sought to create an inclusive environment for travelers of all budgets, founded the lodge. The staff provides outstanding service and is eager to share their expertise in the surrounding area. The lodge is environmentally friendly and runs on solar electricity, which includes solar water pumps for the pool and solar lights. The on-site restaurant primarily uses locally sourced ingredients, such as meat purchased from a Jinja butchery. It has a variety of accommodation options, including thatched cottages, thatched safari tents, river tents, and a campsite.

Budget Accommodation in Murchison Falls National Park

    Fort Murchison

Fort Murchison has a range of comfortable accommodations to meet budgets ranging from mid to low. Whether staying in one of our lovely rooms or one of our comfy thatched tents, a fantastic value for money is ensured. Fort Murchison is located just beyond the northern park boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park, in the former Aswa Lolim Game Reserve. It is placed in a lovely setting and overlooks the magnificent Albert Nile.

    Fort Murchison

Fort Murchison also has non-self-contained tents in addition to the main lodging. There is no need to bring linen because all bedding and towels are provided.

    Red Chilli Rest Camp

Red Chilli Rest Camp, located in the middle of Murchison National Park at Paraa, is an excellent base for exploring Murchison National Park. It is only 500 meters from the ferry, from which you may cross for an early morning game drive in the Nile delta or immediately embark on a river cruise. The on-site bar is open until midnight, and there’s a community campfire and barbecue area for socializing.

    Red Chilli Rest Camp

The cheapest alternatives are DIY camping with shared access to modern showers, toilets, and cooking facilities, as well as simple twin safari tents.

    Boomer Women’s group

Boomu, which means “togetherness,” is a fantastic affordable accommodation option with a social purpose on the outskirts of Murchison National Park, near the southern gates. It was founded by a group of women who wanted to better their lives and give back to the community by launching a community tourism enterprise. Boom is great for travelers because it has multiple dormitory-style rooms, a restaurant on-site, and breakfast is included.

    Camping at Shoebill

This campsite is named after the uncommon shoebill stork that visits the Albert Delta in Murchison National Park. Set up your tent on the Nile’s edge and sip a sundowner while listening to the calls of hippos and other wildlife that frequent the riverbank below.

    Camping at Shoebill

Shoebill is great for do-it-yourself camping, so bring your tents and cooking gear.

    Guest House Global Village

Global Village Guest House is a low-cost hotel in Pakwach, Murchison Falls National Park, designed to make your Uganda Safari stay memorable. The Park is only 1 hour and 50 minutes away.

The breathtaking splendor of the Global Village Guest House will captivate you as it provides panoramic views of African homesteads and the Murchison Falls National Park.

The lodge provides convenient free and safe parking. It also features an excellent restaurant that serves cozy meals, as well as a well-stocked bar with all of the drinks you may require during your stay at this lodge. After a long day of wildlife driving, the lodge’s garden is the ideal spot to unwind. Enjoy the nice wind and the chirping birds in the background.

    Parkside Safari Lodge

The Parkside Safari Lodge is located on the outskirts of the Murchison Falls National Park and is only a 5-minute drive away. The lodge provides self-contained cottages for singles, doubles, and families. Each has a separate balcony from which to enjoy the spectacular Nile views. Furthermore, because it is near the Albert Nile, various animals are grazing, drinking water, and cooling off along the Nile beaches.

    Parkside Safari Lodge

These cottages are spaced far enough to provide visitors privacy. The Lodge provides power, laundry services, a kitchen bar/lounge, and numerous more amenities.

    Heritage Safari Lodge

Safari Lodge is located in Pakwach, 3 kilometers from the Tangi gate in the northern section of Murchison Falls National Park. That is where game-watching encounters occur. Heritage Safari Lodge has eleven cottages and tents with stunning views of the Albert Nile, sunrise, and the hot spring pouring into the Nile. The cottages are available in single, double, triple, quadruple, and family configurations. Furthermore, they include typical Acholi architecture with step-like thatched cottages that exude an authentic African flavor.

The cottages feature either regular or shared bathrooms, depending on your budget. In addition, there is free daily room service, laundry services, and fresh percale linen. Heritage Safari Lodge features an excellent onsite restaurant where trained Ugandan cooks make both a la carte and buffet meals.

    Heritage Safari Lodge

There are various drink brands available at the bar. It also provides airport transportation, a 24-hour service desk, free parking, and free Wi-Fi throughout the resort grounds.

    Bwana Tembo Safari Lodge

Bwana Tembo Safari Lodge is in Pakwach, northwestern Uganda, near the Murchison Falls National Park gate.  There are six cottages at the Lodge. Some cottages are single, twin, or triple occupancy. They have enough space between them to be alone. There are also four twin full tents on the camp’s upper side. Bwana Tembo Safari Lodge provides free onsite parking, daily housekeeping, front desk services (limited hours), and much more. The Lodge’s outstanding bar/lounges offer a diverse selection of beverages. Activities such as fishing, bird watching, community/nature walks, game drives, and gorilla trekking are available because the lodge is close to the Murchison Falls National Park.

    bwana tembo safari camp

With the above vast selection of the best accommodations in Murchison Falls National Park, enjoy a relaxing and refreshing wildlife safari encounter right in the heart of the African Wilderness on your Uganda safari.
