Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up, city tour & transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet up with your driver from Safari Vacations and Travel Services. Volcanoes National Park is 104 Km away from Kigali. Because of the speed limits imposed by the Rwandan government, it takes approximately 3 hours to connect to the park by road. Drive to Volcanoes National Park to your booked accommodation.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking

At 7:00 am local time, breakfast at the lodge will be ready. 30 minutes will be enough for your breakfast and then transfer to the nearby park headquarters where you will be briefed by a park ranger on how to carry out gorilla tracking. Hiking on the slippery and muddy Volcanoes slopes with nettles is quite challenging. But the encounter with mountain gorillas erases all the bad memories! You will be allowed to stay with these close relatives of ours (mountain Gorillas) for at least an hour for observation and photography.

In the evening visit the panoramic twin volcanic lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Return to your lodge for dinner and folk tales at the fireplace.

Day 3: Cultural & Community visit / Golden Monkey tracking

Undertake a community walk to the Iby’iwachu Cultural Village. The traditional dances, poems, and dress codes in this place are quite memorable. Alternatively, you may choose to return to the jungles of the park but this time to track the endangered and beautiful golden monkeys.

Return to the lodge for a hot lunch and then transfer to Kigali for a scheduled return flight.
