3-Day Mount Gahinga Volcano Hike
This 3-day Mount Gahinga Volcano Hike is a short Adventure trip that will take you to hike the Gahinga Mountain. It is one of the eight volcanic mountains that make up the Virunga Mountain ranges. They border Uganda, Rwanda, and DR Congo. Mountain Gahinga is the smallest of the Virunga Volcanoes with an elevation of 3,474 meters above sea level. The hike up Mount Gahinga to its highest point takes approximately 3-4 hours best to start the hike in the morning.
You will need to be fit for this hike given the fact the hike is worth it giving you an opportunity as well to see various primates including Golden monkeys and depending on luck that day mountain Gorillas and other wild animals. This 3-day Mount Gahinga Volcano Hike is an all-inclusive adventure trip that will start and end in Entebbe/Kampala. We can also customize it and end in Kigali or start and end in Kigali.
Tour Highlights
Day 1: Pick up from Kampala/Entebbe and Drive to Kisoro for overnight stay via the Equator for photographs and lunch en route
On Day 2: Full Day Hiking of Mount Gahinga Volcano.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe for drop off to end the 3-day Mount Gahinga Volcano Hike.
DAY 01: Pick up from Kampala/Entebbe and Transfer to Kisoro for overnight
The driver will pick you up from the hotel or Airport in Kampala/Entebbe and you will start your drive to Kisoro. Kisoro is a town close to Mount Gahinga Volcano. You will be arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight. You will have a stop visit at the Equator and an en-route lunch, then after drive south to Kisoro for overnight. The drive is long but very adventurous you will have various stops for stretching and sightseeing the beautiful landscapes of Uganda.
Drive Time: Approximately 8-9 hours drive
Accommodation: Lake Chahafi Resort Hotel or Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge
Meals: Full Board.
DAY 02: Full-Day Hiking Mount Gahinga Volcano
You will wake up early morning have breakfast at the Lodge and drive to the headquarters of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You’ll go for a briefing and you will get well-knowledgeable guides for your hike. After you set off for the hike, it will take you around 3-4 hours to reach the summit of Mount Gahinga Volcano. While going and coming back, you will have various resting sessions. After some time of sightseeing at the top of the volcano, you will descend back. You’ll go back to the starting point and drive to the lodge for relaxing and later dinner and overnight. Depending on the time you descend back from the mountain and the fitness you will have, you will visit the local community for a Batwa cultural experience.

DAY 03: Departure back to Kampala/Entebbe to End the 3 Days Mount Gahinga Volcano Hike
You will have breakfast at the lodge after driving back to Entebbe/Kampala for drop-off to end your tour. If you choose to end this trip in Kigali you can opt to do a Morning Gorilla trek or Golden Monkey. You’d do these activities in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. After the trek, then proceed to Kigali for drop off to end the trip with either your flight out or drop off at the Lodge.
