Day 02 :

Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale & Transfer to Bwindi

After an early breakfast, transfer to the chimpanzee trekking briefing point in Kibale National Park. Rangers explain forest regulations, chimpanzee behaviour and what to expect before you enter the forest with an experienced guide.

The trek takes you through one of Uganda’s important tropical forest ecosystems while searching for a habituated chimpanzee community. Once the chimpanzees are located, normal tracking allows up to one hour of viewing time.

Besides chimpanzees, the forest experience may provide opportunities to encounter other primates, forest birds and a variety of tropical vegetation.

After completing the trek, return to meet your driver-guide and begin the journey south toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive passes through attractive western Ugandan landscapes before reaching your lodge close to your confirmed gorilla trekking sector.

Day 03 :

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today is the highlight of your Uganda primate safari. After an early breakfast, transfer to the appropriate Bwindi park headquarters for registration and a pre-trek briefing.

You will then enter Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers and trackers in search of your allocated mountain gorilla family. The length and difficulty of the trek vary depending on the gorillas' location, terrain and forest conditions. UWA advises that gorilla trekking may take approximately 2–7 hours, with a maximum of one hour spent observing the gorillas once they are located.

The experience offers an extraordinary opportunity to quietly observe mountain gorillas feeding, resting, grooming and interacting in their natural habitat.

After trekking, return to the park headquarters, meet your driver-guide and continue to your lodge for a well-earned rest.

Day 04 :

Bwindi to Kampala – End of Safari

The drive takes you through southwestern Uganda's hills, farming communities and countryside before continuing toward central Uganda. Stops can be made along the journey for lunch, refreshments and photography.
