It is also home to the largest population of zebra in Uganda estimated at about 5,000 and probably contains the highest concentration of leopard found anywhere in Uganda( though they are rare). Some of the other animals which inhabit the Park include Buffalo, waterbuck, topi and warthog, Reedbuck, oribi, Hyena, genet, bush pigs and white tailed mongoose are often seen on night game drives. It is home to 350 bird species and is such a great birding destination in Uganda. The night game drive in Lake Mburo national Park costs $30 per person on top of entrance fees, the charge is paid to Uganda wildlife Authority at the Park headquarters or at the head office. By Road: Lake Mburo National Park is located between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara close to the main south western road that links Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. It is 228 km drive from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park which takes you approximately 3-4 hours’ drive each way. The park can be accessed from various main gates which include Kyanyanshara Gate linking you to Mihingo Lodge, Akagate Gate and Sanga Gate which leads you to Rwakobo Rock Lodge. The park is close to the main road making it easy for accessibility you will need to follow sign posts of Uganda Wildlife Authority.
By Air; Flying Safari to Lake Mburo National Park is also available via charter and scheduled flights from Kajjansi and Entebbe International Airport, operators of these route include Aero Link Uganda and Fly Uganda among others. This however needs to be booked in advance given the fact the routing is mostly determined by the number of travelers aboard the flight, their destination and weather.
