Silverback is a mature experienced male gorilla master with silver hair on its back. It is usually the leader of the given gorilla family which is commonly composed of 5-30 plus members of the family, more females, few other males and few infants.
The silverback is always responsible for the family’s safety and the family’s day to day running of their lives that are their movements, and protecting the family by fighting to death in case of an attack or a threat on the family.
This silverback makes decisions for the family and at times it snatches different females from other family groups, as the question was asking “how strong is a silverback gorilla”.
A study has been made on how strong a silver back gorilla is? And actually as a matter of a fact, its strength has never been measured. Its strength has been witnessed just by observing the gorilla normally breaking tree branches, snapping objects like the banana plantations, breaking giant bamboo stalks, tempered steel bars.
The muscles have the power between 9-10 times that of a human being (man). This gorilla is observed to hang from one arm with over 400 lbs. actually a silverback does not use its strength to attack other animal’s reason being that those Apes for example Baboons and Chimpanzees are peaceful in nature and have the powerful jaws, which they use to break and eat plants and trees.
A silverback gorilla has a huge body than a human body with its height from 5-6 and 5-9 and the arm span is impressive depending on the size of a silverback, its three feet is larger than the variant human length. Silver back weighs from 298-397 ibs, the size has attracted many tourists or travellers to Uganda to trek the Mountain Gorillas particularly in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
It can lift up to 10 times the amount of its own body weight, it gains this mush weight as a result of feeding on huge chunk of plants daily and this helps it to regain a lot of weight and strength and also to be able to lead the entire family.
The mountain gorillas are found and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
Some silverbacks can be found in Bwindi forest national park but mostly are in Mgahinga.
