The Ruhija sector is located in the eastern n part of Bwindi impenetrable and it is home to four gorilla family groups. That is Mukiza, gorilla family, Uruzogo family group, Bitukura and kyaguliro family groups.
Mukiza gorilla family is found in the Ruhija sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park and this family is led by the dominant silverback Mukiza. The family group was formed way back in May 2016 after the split of the parent Kyaguliro group. Mukiza group is again a major dedication to the gorilla research by the Manx plunk institute for evolution and anthology (MPI-Evan). This group is currently made up of 13 individuals including 1silverback, 1 sub-adult, 6 adult females, 2 juveniles, and 3 infants.
This family is made of 17 individuals with 1 silverback and this group has become the most favored tourist site simply because of the playful individuals that entertain the visitors and this group was introduced way back in 2011.
This family has 14 individuals including 4 silverbacks, and it was habituated in 2007. The family has 4 silverbacks, 4 adult females, 2 juveniles, 3 infants, and 1 baby. Initially, the family group had 24 members but later they split due to several fights and disputes in t5he family, some individuals decided to move and make their own family in other areas of the forest.
This gorilla family group is made up of 20 individuals and it is not usually visited reason being that it was reserved for research purposes.
The group was later divided its self into two groups after the untimely death of the silverbacks which was struck by lightning. And after the death, the group was only left with one young silverback that was later attacked by a mature silverback from the Bitukura family and this eventually led to the splitting of the family into two.
The Kyaguliro group is led by Rukara with 10 members including; 1 silverback, 3 adult females, 2 blackbucks, 2 juveniles, and 2 infants.
