Discounted gorilla tracking permits in Uganda-given the fact that gorilla tracking has been one of the fundamental sectors to the growth of Tourism in Uganda, a lot of improvements in the sector have been organized by implementing partners both Government and implementing partners i.e Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority among others paving a way for tourists to safely enjoy gorilla tracking experience in the wild jungles of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Gorilla tracking experience is an activity where tourists encounter habituated gorilla families in the forest along with experienced ranger guides, researchers and guards for safety of clients on the trail from external harm. The experience takes one hour once the allocated gorilla family to visitors is reached before returning back to the headquarters.

Prior to Covid-19, the initial cost of gorilla tracking in Uganda stands at $700 (Gorilla tracking) and $1500 for Gorilla habituation experience which can only be done in Bwindi forest. The pandemic has however restrained the economy and thus adjustments were made among stake holders in the industry to offer discounted gorilla tracking permits to whoever intends to take a day off and enjoy a once in a life time experience with the Gentle Apes.

Discounted gorilla tracking permit promotion in Uganda are therefore reduced as follows for the period of 4 months that is from 1 December to 31^st March 2020;

1. Foreign Non-residents @ $400 (from $700)
2. Foreign Residents to $300 (from $600)

• Ugandans and other East African Nationals – 150000 UGX (from Uganda shillings 250000)

Requirements for Gorilla tracking amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

Following guidelines from the ministry of health, tourists are therefore advised to follow Standard Operating Procedures to best enjoy the activity before travel and while in the country as follows;

1. Visitors shall be required to provide a valid negative Covid-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction test from accredited Laboratory from the country of origin issued within 120 hours before boarding to Uganda
2. You are required to keep a distance of 2 meters from each other’s before and along the tracking time.

• Visitors, trackers and staff shall be required to wear a face mask appropriately while in public and along the experience

1. You shall be subjected to temperature screening on every entry point for any related symptoms to the Virus
2. All visitors and staff at the headquarters shall sanitize and wash hands to avoid contraction of the Virus
3. Only 8 visitors shall be allowed to trek a given gorilla family per day

• Tourists are supposed to maintain a distance of 10 meters once you encounter the gorilla family you are designated to see.
