Baker’s lodge is located in Murchison falls National Park on the southern part of the Park it is situated along the southern bank of the mighty River Nile. Baker’s Lodge is one of the luxury lodges found in Murchison Falls National Park it was named after the English explorer Sir Samuel Baker the first European to view and name the Murchison Falls. Given the fact it is close to the river Nile guests here enjoy a great atmosphere of bird life, hippos and elephants which visit the lodge regularly.
How to get to Bakers Lodge Murchison Falls National Park
Getting There By Road; Bakers lodge is located outside the boundary of Murchison Falls National Park on the South bank of the River Nile. From Kampala/Entebbe you will drive northwards towards Gulu, turning off to Masindi at the Kafu River junction. From Masindi turn opposite the second shell fuel station and follow Uganda Wildlife Authority sign posts through the murram road to the Kichumbanyobo gate, Murchison Falls National Park. From here you will drive through the Kanyo-Pabidi section of Budongo forest on wards to the Paraa ferry point from where you will branch off to Baker’s Lodge.
Getting There by Air; Scheduled and Charter flights land at Bugungu airstrip 20 minutes’ drive away on the south bank and at Pakuba airstrip on the North bank of the river approximately 90-120 minutes’ drive away, depending upon road conditions and ferry timings.

International rates begin from $US 240 per adult during Low Season (sharing in double / twin accommodation). High Season Months: January, February, July, August, September, December, Shoulder Season Months: March, June, October and Low Season Months: April, May, November. Rates are based on Full Board, half board and Bed Breakfast. Prices Exclude: Murchison Falls National Parks Fees, Premium and non house drinks and optional activities.
Game Drives.
Game drives in Murchison Falls National Park are mainly done in the Northern bank of river Nile. After breakfast you will drive towards the ferry cross it and proceed with game drives, you will have an opportunity to spot Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, lions, leopard, hyena among other animals.
Boat cruise to Murchison Falls.
There are scheduled and private trips daily to the Murchison falls, this boat takes you to the bottom of the falls giving you excellent views of wildlife along the way and Murchison falls. You will have an opportunity to see up-close the teeming hippos and crocodile populations on the river as well as a plethora of animals and birdlife on the river banks. The cruise can be combined with a safari drive, a hike up the side of the falls, or a sunset cruise.
Boat cruise to the Victoria Nile Delta.
There are scheduled and private trips daily to the Victoria Nile Delta, this boat takes you to the Delta giving you excellent views of wildlife along the way this is a 17km trip downstream from Baker’s Lodge, the Delta is a home to unique wetland birds including shoebills and papyrus endemic species. Scheduled and private delta cruises depart from the lodge with a “breakfast on board” option offered in the mornings (subject to minimum numbers) booked for the day.
Top of Murchison Falls Hiking and Walk.
The walk to the top of the falls gives you an opportunity to view the chasm from multiple angles to see the main falls from different angles and elevations. At the top of the falls you will be able to see the Nile River river squeezing itself through a mere 8 meter gap producing sounds of the water and display of the power of nature.
Sport Fishing.
The Nile River gives an opportunity for great sport fishing. Large Nile Perch as well as several species of cat fish are fished on a strict Catch and Release system, this is done with local fishing guides.
Chimpanzee Trekking in Budongo Forest.
Chimpanzee tracking is done in Budongo Forest, it is done in the morning and afternoon, from Baker’s Lodge it is approximately 1 hour drive, chimpanzee tracking gives you an opportunity to spend one hour encounter with the chimpanzees once you find them.
