Gorilla Tracking Rwanda safari will take you to Rwanda to tour a country with “a thousand hills”. Rwanda, Uganda, and DRC are the only countries that home to the endangered mountain Gorillas in the whole world. Besides trekking Rwanda gorillas, you may choose to go for a Kigali city excursion, golden monkey tracking among other optional activities as well as visiting Nyungwe Forest national park for either chimpanzee trekking or canopy walk.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

On arrival in Kigali, you will meet our experienced tour guide who will take you for a city excursion in and around Kigali. in the afternoon be taken for a scenic drive in the park for 2 – 3 hours to view the breathtaking, beautiful volcanic mountain landscapes.

Drive time: 4-5 Hour Drive

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking/ Canopy Walk

After an early breakfast at 5:30 am you will then drive to the edge of the forest to start the trekking of chimpanzee, During the trek, you will have the chance to see other primates such as the Rwenzori colobus, Silver monkey, the Grey-cheeked Mangabey, L’hoests monkey and the Owl faced monkey. You’ll spend a maximum of one hour observing the chimpanzee in their natural setting. The tracking will be a 2-5 hour exercise after which you will return to your lodge for lunch, chill from the tiresome, and exciting activity of the day. You may decide to have an optional guided walk in the forest.

Drive time: 45 minutes

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National park

After your breakfast, you will leave Nyungwe Forest for Volcanoes National Park arriving in the late afternoon for overnight at your lodge.

Lodge: Lebambou Gorilla Lodge

Drive time: 6-7 Hour drive

Meal Plan: Full Board

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking

You will have an early breakfast and report at the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the rules to be observed during Gorilla trekking. You will be allocated a Gorilla family to track and guides to lead you to the Gorillas. Tracking ideally will last anywhere between 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on the movements of the primates in the jungle that day. You will spend one hour with them once you encounter them and take notes and plenty of pictures before you return back to the headquarters/ Lodge to relax after the experience.

Day 5: Departure To Kigali

After breakfast, you will drive back to Kigali via Butale to visit the National Museum depending on the time of your scheduled flight.

Drive time: 2-3 Hour Drive

Meal Plan: Half Board
